the red and the blue
Why does a boxing ring have a blue and a red corner? Why not blue and? orange or red and green? Why are Republicans red and Democrats ?blue? Why blue for boys and pink (light red) for girls?? Red and blue seem to be engaged in some kind of weird cultural struggle, pitted against one another as signifiers of polarity in political views, gender and temperament.? Can’t they just get along?
This latest incarnation of the Ways and Means an experimental drawing project began as the result of a conversation where the artists realised they had used red and blue in their work- exercising similar oppositional rationales. Vin Ryan and Ben Sheppard.
